In the past few years, the last week of May has spelled success for movies featuring young stars and they have been received well across the country. Be it

Premam

(May 29) or

Bangalore Days

(May 30), both films, coincidentally backed by Anwar Rasheed, have gone on to be biggest hits of the respective years and still continues to be favourite among the youth. With Kurup too having a pan-Indian appeal in terms of its cast, story and locations, May 28 could repeat the feat for the Mollywood film.

The movie, which is based on the infamous fugitive

Sukumara Kurup

, is the biggest project in Dulquer’s career with it reportedly being made on a budget of Rs 35 crore. The movie was shot in Kerala, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Mangalore, Mysuru and Dubai over a period of 105 days.

Earlier, there were rumours that the movie would be heading for an OTT release with platforms offering huge deals to own the digital rights for the film, which has Dulquer teaming up again with Srinath Rajendran, who had directed his debut film Second Show.

Kurup is based on a story by Jithin K Jose and is co-scripted by Daniel Sayooj Nair and Aravind KS. Nimish Ravi is the movie’s cinematographer.
