Directed by popular filmmaker Vinayan, ‘Pathonpatham Noottandu’ is a period drama. As the title suggests, the film is set in the 19th century, and tells the story of Aarattupuzha Velayudhan Panicker, a fierce Ezhava chieftain and social reformer, who fought against the caste system and many other social evils. Siju Wilson has roped in as the lead actor, and the promo videos hint that Vinayan is back with a bang. You can expect a visual treat in the cinemas, and the story is a bonus.

Based on GR Indugopan’s story Amminipilla Vettu Case, ‘Oru Thekkan Thallu Case’ has actors Biju Menon, Padmapriya Janakiraman, Roshan Mathew, and Nimisha Sajayan in lead roles. The film is directed by Sreejith N, and it is touted to be a period drama. Biju Menon plays Amminipilla and Padmapriya plays the role of his wife. “It is based in a small village in the 1980s. My character is Rukmini and married to Biju Menon’s Amminipilla. Her entire life revolves around him, and she is a gutsy, boisterous woman. She reminds me of the women in the 80s, like my grandmother, who may be housewives, but were very assertive,” Padmapriya said in an earlier interview with Kochi Times.
