Gandhi Jayanti 2021: Mohanlal, Mammootty, and other celebs pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

October 2 is observed as Gandhi Jayanti in India annually, as it marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. M-Town celebs including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and many others have taken to their respective social media handles to extend tributes to the ‘Father of the Nation’ - Mahatma Gandhi.

Today marks the 152nd birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Gandhi with his non-violence policy and Swadeshi movement led India towards its freedom from the British.


In 2007, UN General Assembly declared October 2 as the International Day of Non-Violence and the celebs also shared quotes of Bapu, who believed in the principle of Ahimsa (non-violence).

Mohanlal took to his Twitter handle and said, “Paying homage to the Mahatma… The greatest visionary this nation has ever witnessed. Gandhi Jayanti wishes to you all! #GandhiJayanti.”

Mammootty too extended tributes to Bapu. “Tributes to the father of the nation, #MahatmaGandhi ji on his birth anniversary. #GandhiJayanti,” he tweeted.

Actor-director-producer Prithviraj Sukumaran extended Gandhi Jayanti wishes to his fans. “Gandhi Jayanti wishes!”
Singer Manjari paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi by crooning ‘Sabarmati Ke Sant’. “Here is a tribute to Gandhiji on his birth anniversary,” she said, sharing the song.
