'He came and apologised me': Meera Vasudevan on intimate scene with Mohanlal in 'Thanmathra'; Confirms her third divorce

Meera Vasudevan, known for her performances across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi cinema, has opened up about two deeply personal chapters of her life. She became a household name with her portrayal in Blessy’s ‘Thanmathra’ (2005). Recently, the actress revisited a memory from the film when Mohanlal asked if she was comfortable or not and also confirmed that her third marriage has come to an end.

Why the intimate scene mattered and how Mohanlal reassured her

Meera recently reflected on the intimate scene from ‘Thanmathra’, explaining why she initially hesitated. She explained that several actresses had stepped away from the part because of that moment.

In the interview with Red Carpet, she said, “During the discussion, while Blessy was explaining the love-making scene, he said many senior actors had denied the movie because of this. I just asked him why this scene is required." Blessy convinced her by clarifying its emotional weight in the story, as it revealed a turning point in her character’s understanding of Rameshan’s struggles.

Meera also spoke about Mohanlal’s professionalism and empathy on set. She revealed that he approached her directly before filming, aware of the sensitivity involved, and added, “More than me, it was even more challenging for Mohanlal. He went completely nude for the scene. Before the shot, he came and apologised to me if he was making me uncomfortable." The team ensured a closed, minimal setup, respecting her comfort and maintaining complete confidentiality throughout the shoot.

Her personal life and three marriages

Meera who married cinematographer Vipin Puthiyankam in 2024, revealed they quietly parted ways in August 2025. This was her third marriage.

Her first marriage to Vishal Agarwal in 2005, which began after her early Bollywood debut, ended within five years. Her second marriage to Malayalam actor John Kokken, to whom she has a son , but the couple separated in 2016. After that, Meera rebuilt her career through Malayalam television, finding stability and recognition once again.
