How a WhatsApp message from a fan to Mammootty helped save a child’s life

A simple WhatsApp message from a fan to Malayalam superstar Mammootty turned into a life-changing moment for a young girl named Nidha Fathima, who was born with congenital heart disease.

Never expected a response

According to Mathrubhumi News, on February 27, Jasir Babu, a member of the Perinthalmanna Mammootty Fans Association, sent his usual message to the actor, never expecting a response. However, this time the message reached a deeper level of urgency as it conveyed a family's heartache: Nidha, a three-and-a-half-year-old girl from Tirurkat, Malappuram, was battling a serious heart condition.

Magical response saves a life

Within an hour of receiving the message, Mammootty’s charitable organization responded by arranging for Nidha’s surgery. The girl had been born with a single ventricle instead of the usual two chambers in her heart, requiring urgent surgery. With financial constraints weighing heavily on her family, especially her father Ali, a driver who had recently undergone angioplasty, the cost of the surgery seemed impossible to manage.

4/5

Surgery free of any charge

Thanks to Mammootty’s intervention, the surgery was carried out at a popular hospital in Aluva on April 7, completely free of charge under the Care and Share initiative. The surgery was successful, and Nidha’s condition improved significantly, with her body no longer turning blue from oxygen deprivation.

5/5

Special gift from the superstar

Nidha and her family, overwhelmed by the support, left the hospital with a special gift from Mammootty—a bouquet and a heartfelt note. As they returned home, Nidha’s father, a lifelong fan of Mammootty, expressed his wish to meet the actor in person and take a photo together, a dream now within reach thanks to a simple message of hope.
