Set in 13th century Kerala, 'Veeram' resurrects the real life character of the infamous warrior Chanthu Chekavar. According to the ballads,
Chandu
was a Chekaver (warrior), who supposedly lived in the 16th century in North Malabar, in South India.
Kunal, who plays the protagonist in the film, looks spectacular in the rustic appearance and seems very promising.

Directed by Jayaraj, the film is being made in Malayalam, Hindi and English. This film marks the Malayalam debut of Kunal Kapoor.
