It's been a few days since the Kerala State Film Awards has been announced; but the controversy surrounding the choice of award winners is still mired in controversy, what with popular figures in the industry, including National Award winner actor Salim Kumar, lashing out against the jury.

The latest to join those who protest against the selection of award winners are director Kamal and actress Kavya Madhavan.
"I was told by many in the industry that my role in Bhakthajanangalude Sraddhakku would surely win me an award. When so many people started saying so, even my hopes rose. In fact, minutes before the official announcement was made, I did get congratulatory calls for winning the Best Actress Award. But I politely refused to comment on the 'win' to the media who were waiting for me, before I got an official confirmation. And when the official announcement finally came, I didn't make it," the actress was quoted as saying. "I felt much like a sleeping man who was woken up from his sleep, only to be told that there's no food for him," she stated.
