Idavela Babu, who served as the general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) for the past 25 years, delivered a candid farewell speech at the annual body meet in Kochi.

During his address, Idavela Babu expressed disappointment over his colleagues' lack of support during a cyber attack he faced, stating, "But none of you spoke up for me. I have a limit to speaking up for myself while holding the position.”

Idavela Babu, who has been succeeded by Siddique as the new AMMA general secretary, also addressed allegations of being a 'paid secretary,' clarifying, "Some people accuse me of being a 'paid secretary.'”

The actor further said that it was Jagathy Sreekumar who first suggested that he should be paid a salary for his duty in AMMA.

Idavela Babu detailed how he managed the salary, stating, "From that, I paid Rs 20,000 to my driver and Rs 20,000 for my accommodation."

Highlighting his contributions to AMMA, Idavela Babu emphasized the smooth functioning of film shoots under his leadership, asserting, "Film shoots were never delayed under my watch." He also disclosed that Rs 6.5 crore has been allocated for AMMA's future operations.

In his farewell, Idavela Babu urged support for the new office-bearers, emphasizing the need for unity within the organization.
