Reportedly, the organization insists that new film releases must obtain permission before signing contracts. According to News 18 reports, a letter has been sent to various film associations regarding this decision. Allegations have surfaced that the move is a deliberate attempt to block Empuraan’s release.

Earlier, the Film Chamber had fully supported the producers’ strike demanding an exemption from entertainment tax. They also stated that no actor is indispensable in the industry.

Producer Antony Perumbavoor has been served a showcause notice by the Film Chamber. The notice claims his statements were inappropriate and demands the withdrawal of a Facebook post against G. Suresh Kumar. Reportedly If the post is not taken down and a response is not provided within seven days, further action may be taken.

For the unversed, Antony Perumbavoor’s post read, “I would like to say something... This note is written because I want to express my thoughts on the open statement made by senior producer and actor Suresh Kumar regarding the Malayalam film industry last month. As an individual, in a democratic India, he has the freedom to express his opinion. However, when representing an organization, one should present matters that are accepted and agreed upon by the majority within that organization. Only then can the majority within the organization stand by and support that opinion. Just because he was willing to publicly express matters that lacked consensus within the organization, I am also taking the same freedom to openly share my thoughts with the public. Moreover, isn't it the very members of the organization he represents who promote these 100-crore and 200-crore milestones? There is nothing wrong with celebrating the fact that Malayalam films are achieving such collections in a short span and competing with much bigger films from other industries.”

Meanwhile, there are several allegations that the strike reportedly planned for March 27 is to block the release of Mohanlal’s ‘L2: Empuraan.’. Netizens have voiced their opinions against the same. One Twitter user commented, “Pathetic decision!! It Seems These People are Against the Growth of the Malayalam Film Industry.” Another comment read, “Just want the entire fan association of every actor to come forward and make this a bigger success.”
