Jonita Doda opens up on Women’s Day 2026: 'Journey toward true equality is still unfinished' - Exclusive
As the world marks International Women's Day, actress Jonita Doda opened up on the importance of gender equality. Talking to ETimes, the actress also highlighted the importance of women supporting women.
Jonita shared that although society has made progress in empowering women, the journey toward complete equality is still not over. She spoke about the challenges women continue to face in different parts of the world.
She tells us, “On International Women’s Day, I believe the journey toward true equality is still unfinished. While progress has been made there are still parts of the world where women continue to face injustice, violence, and deep inequality. This reminds us that the responsibility to create a more balanced and compassionate world still lies with all of us.”
Jonita also spoke about the power of solidarity among women and according to her, mutual support can create stronger communities and opportunities for growth.
The actress said, “One of the most powerful things women can do today is support each other. Healthy competition is natural, but when women stand together rather than pull each other down, we unlock a far greater collective strength. There is space, opportunity, and dignity for every woman to grow and contribute.”
Jonita Doda also addressed an important misconception about equality as it does not mean a competition between men and women.
Instead, she believes that society moves forward when both genders respect and complement each other’s strengths. The actress described the balance between genders as something natural and meaningful.
The 'Salmon 3D' actress shared, “At the same time, equality does not mean competition between genders. There is a beauty in being a woman and there is a beauty in being a man. Nature and God has created every being with purpose, and the world moves forward when we respect and complement each other rather than try to prove superiority.”
The actress also spoke about how Women’s Day should inspire change beyond a single day of celebration. According to Jonita, the ultimate goal should be a world where respect and equality become everyday realities.
Jonita added, “Women’s Day is an important reminder, but the real goal should be a world where respect, dignity, and opportunity are so natural that every day feels like Women’s Day. And looking at the world around us today, my hope is simply that women everywhere are valued, respected, and truly taken care of.”
Jonita Doda is recognised for her work in regional cinema, Hindi films, and the fashion industry. Over the years, she has appeared in several projects that helped her gain recognition among audiences.
The actress is known for her roles in films such as 'Salmon 3D' and 'Ungala Podanum Sir'.
