In an exclusive chat with ETimes, the director opens up about his upcoming movie ‘Joothan’ and also why Rima Kallingal was replaced by Mamta Mohandas.‘Joothan’ will be a treat for the audience,” the director adds revealing that something huge is in the making for movie lovers. The film has Soubin Shahir essaying the lead role of a Jew named Eo Eliyavu Kohen.

“We were about to begin the shoot in April. But unfortunately, now we couldn’t begin due to the Coronavirus pandemic,” Bhadran says sharing his concern about not being able to commence the shoot of ‘Joothan’ this month.

Earlier, it was announced that Rima Kallingal will be the leading lady of the movie but later she was replaced by Mamta Mohandas. “When we completed the script, we had to replace her with Mamta. The character is of a big-time actress, who has also won national awards and a popular figure. As the movie is about a Jew, we wanted the female lead to be a woman who is astounding and graceful as an Egyptian princess. Mamta’s persona suited the character and we had to opt her,” Bhadran says, disclosing the reason why Rima Kallingal was replaced by Mamta Mohandas.

“It isn’t necessary that things go as planned. Now we have to revise the actors’ call sheets. At this point, I can’t give an accurate date about when we could start the shoot. But I think things will get back to normal in 5-6 months,” the filmmaker signs off on a positive note.
