'Kaaliyan' motion poster: Prithviraj Sukumaran’s next is a visual treat

Prithviraj Sukumaran is one of the finest actors in Malayalam cinema. Last seen in ‘Vimanam’, Prithviraj is gearing up for ‘Kaaliyan’, an ambitious period drama. Reportedly, Prithviraj will be seen playing the role of a warrior named Kunchirakkotu Kaali. While the shooting is expected to take off next year, the makers have unveiled the first look of the film.
Releasing the motion poster on Facebook Prithviraj wrote, “History forgot him..the ballads sing of him.He took on the mightiest with the power of one. the power of self. For honour, teacher and country.. #KAALIYAN!.” Going by the video, the film is projected as an unusual story from the ballads of the South.
According to reports, Prithviraj will be seen in an entirely different avatar in the film, which will be helmed by B Mahesh. Bankrolled by Magic Moon Productions, ‘Kaaliyan’ chronicles the life stories of warriors of Venad.
Music composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are making their Mollywood debut, while BD Anil Kumar has written the script. The pre-production work is going in a full swing and ‘Kaaliyan’ is likely to release next year.
On the work front, Prithviraj is teaming up with Anjali Menon for a Malayalam film that also stars Nazriya Nazim and Parvathy in the lead. He also awaits the romantic drama ‘Jay’, which is directed by Roshni Dinaker.
