Mammootty and Vinayakan’s intense-thriller 'Kalamkaval' is continuing to put up an impressive show at the box office.
As reported by the Sacnilk website, early estimates indicate that the movie collected around Rs 2.90 crore India net on Monday (Day 4), pushing the total domestic earnings to Rs 19.40 crore.
The weekend numbers remained solid, with Rs 5 crore on Friday, Rs 5.5 crore on Saturday, and Rs 6 crore on Sunday.
Evening and night shows drive occupancy on Day 4
The Malayalam theatrical occupancy on Monday averaged 28.66%.
Morning shows began moderately at 14.91%, but the numbers strengthened as the day progressed. The film had 23.19% occupancy in the afternoon, 31.33% in the evening, and 45.19% for night shows.
Strong word of mouth fuels expectations for second week
Directed by Jithin K. Jose, 'Kalamkaval' features Mammootty, Vinayakan, Gayatri Arun, Rajisha Vijayan, and Gibin Gopinath in pivotal roles.
With no major Malayalam release blocking screen space immediately, 'Kalamkaval' is expected to mint more numbers in the coming days. ETimes review for the film reads, "Mammootty remains the film’s biggest asset, delivering a performance sharpened by stillness and cold precision. Vinayakan matches him with a brooding, tightly coiled presence, though the screenplay could have offered him more depth. Despite strong performances, the uneven momentum prevents Kalamkaval from fully blooming into the gripping crime drama it aims to be."
