India mourns the loss of its former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away on Thursday shortly after being admitted to AIIMS, Delhi. The 91-year-old statesman, known for his economic acumen and quiet leadership, leaves behind a legacy that shaped modern India. Tributes have poured in from all quarters, including heartfelt messages from prominent figures in Indian cinema like Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, Thalapathy Vijay, and Mammootty.

Kamal Haasan’s emotional tribute

Actor and politician Kamal Haasan shared a heartfelt post on his X handle, highlighting the profound impact Dr. Manmohan Singh had on the nation. “India has lost one of its most eminent statesmen and scholars. The passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh marks the end of an era in Indian polity,” wrote Kamal.


“Few have influenced the nation's trajectory with such a far-reaching impact. His policies, both as finance minister and prime minister, empowered millions, strengthening the fabric of Indian democracy and uplifting the most vulnerable,” the ‘Indian’ actor continued.

Praising Manmohan Singh’s governance, Kamal added, “His governance was marked by a deep commitment to inclusivity and social justice, ensuring that India's progress reached every corner of society. His legacy will endure in the annals of Indian history, forever remembered as a leader who quietly but profoundly changed the course of the nation.”

Chiranjeevi remembers a visionary leader

Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi also expressed his grief with a moving note on social media. Sharing a photograph with the former Prime Minister, Chiranjeevi wrote, “Deeply anguished by the passing away of one of the greatest statesmen our country has ever produced, a highly educated, most graceful, soft-spoken, and humble leader, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji.”

“His visionary and game-changing contributions as the finance minister and then his highly successful tenure as the 13th Prime Minister of India for two successive terms will remain etched in history. It is a tremendous loss to our country. My deepest condolences to his family and each of his numerous admirers. Rest in peace, Manmohan Ji!! Om Shanti!!” the Telugu actor added.

Thalapathy Vijay acknowledges Manmohan Singh’s wisdom.

Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay paid tribute through the social media handle of his political party. He wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of former Prime Minister Dr. #ManmohanSingh. He led India with immense wisdom and integrity, who spoke less but did more. His unparalleled contribution to the Indian economy and other noble services to the nation will forever be cherished.”

Vijay extended his condolences, saying, “My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, followers, and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Mammootty’s respectful homage
