Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, and Mammootty took to social media to pay their heartfelt tributes to the spiritual leader, who passed away at the age of 88.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal also took to X to express his sorrow, calling Pope Francis a guiding light. The ‘Thudarum’ actor’s Tweet reads, “Pope Francis was a beacon of compassion, humility, and hope for millions around the world. May his spirit continue to inspire kindness in us all, and may his legacy lead us toward a more compassionate and united world. Keeping him in my thoughts and prayers. #PopeFrancis”

Veteran actor Mammootty penned an emotional tribute as well that read, “Today the world has lost a noble soul whose unwavering commitment to human rights will stand the test of time. Requiescat in Peace, His Holiness. #PopeFrancis.”

Death confirmed by Cardinal Kevin Farrell

Pope Francis’ final public appearance came on Easter Sunday, where despite his frail health, he addressed over 35,000 faithful from St. Peter’s Basilica with his iconic Urbi et Orbi blessing. His death was confirmed by Cardinal Kevin Farrell: “This morning at 7:35 am (0535 GMT) the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the home of the Father.”
