For the first time in Malayalam cinema history, the launch of a Malayalam film was celebrated on such a grand scale in the United States. The launch of ‘L2: Empuraan’ was marked by a spectacular event at Times Square in New York, drawing an overwhelming crowd of Mohanlal fans.
The event saw the participation of nearly 10,000 Mohanlal fans, making it a massive celebration. Throughout the day, the teaser of ‘Empuraan’ was played live on the giant screens of Times Square. Additionally, the occasion was made even more special with a series of musical and dance performances featuring around 60 artists.
On a positive note, ‘L2: Empuraan’ reportedly kicks off with a strong start in Canada! According to CinetrakFlash, the film has grossed approximately seventy-two thousand Canadian dollars (fifty thousand US dollars) from just four tracked locations in the GTA area, with 3,062 admissions across 20 shows and an impressive 66.42% occupancy.
If the trend is sustained in the coming days, the Mohanlal starrer is expected to start from Rs 30 crores worldwide and it will be huge, considering it’s a Malayalam film.
Earlier, the Malayalam movies ‘King of Kotha’, ‘Kunjali Marakkar’, and Odiyan’ had such huge anticipation levels from the audiences, but all three movies failed to impress the audiences. Coming to ‘L2: Empuraan’, all hopes are put on Prithviraj Sukumaran who has already impressed the audiences with his directorial films ‘Lucifer’ and ‘Bro Daddy’.
On the other hand, the makers have announced the re-release of the first part ‘Lucifer’ which is set for March 20. The production house, on the last day, shared the re-release trailer via their official Instagram handle. With all these updates and whopping pre-sales figures, it’s sure that ‘L2: Empuraan’ is the next big thing in Mollywood.
