Maala Parvathi exposes scammers posing as Mumbai Police in shocking extortion attempt

Maala Parvathi recently shared that scammers pretended to be Mumbai police to try to extort money from her. The actress was in Madurai filming a Tamil movie when she got the call on Sunday afternoon.

Maala Parvathi received a call from scammers who accused her of smuggling drugs. They claimed that a package she sent from Mumbai to Taiwan was seized and contained a passport, credit card, laptop, and 200 grams of MDMA. The scammers then connected her to someone pretending to be from the Mumbai police, showing fake ID cards and misusing her Aadhaar card details to convince her. They also told her she was under "virtual arrest" for 72 hours.

After talking to the person who pretended to be a police officer, Maala Parvathi was told that about 15 bank accounts had been opened in her name and that she was a victim of a money-laundering scam. Although she was shocked at first, she figured out it was a scam after doing some online research. Since she didn’t lose any money, she decided not to file a police report.


On the work front, Maala Parvathi was last seen in the Malayalam film ‘Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM), starring Tovino Thomas. The film released in September, has emerged as a blockbuster. Directed by debutant Jithin Laal, the 3D film continues to run successfully in the cinemas.
