Madampu Kunjukuttan passes away following COVID complications

He was 81 years old
National Award winner writer-actor Madampu Kunjukuttan, who has been under treatment in Thrissur after contracting Covid-19, passes away. He was 81 years old.

The artiste, who was in treatment at a prominent hospital in Thrissur, also had age-related ailments, as per reports. We hear that he was tested

COVID

positive after he was hospitalized following high fever. He is survived by his daughters Jessina and

Haseena

, his wife Savithri Antharjanam had passed away a few years ago.

Madampu, whose real name is Madampu Sankaran Namboothiri, was born in 1941 and had won the National Award for the best script, through the Jayaraj movie ‘Karunam,’ which was released in the year 2000. The movie also had him as one of the actors, alongside Biju Menon, Vavachan and Eliyamma. He is also the winner of the Ashdod International Film Award for the Best Screenplay, for director P Venu’s movie ‘Parinamam.’ Madampu has also hosted TV shows like ‘E 4 Elephant,’ with Sreekumar Arookutty.

He has also studied Sanskrit and hasthaayurvedam, and as per reports, he has even served as a temple priest and a Sanskrit teacher for a while. He also had a short stint with the
