Malayalam actors who are brilliant, but not in the rat race

Nowadays, with the boom of social media, everyone has become an artist. It is a boon for those who are in search of new talents, but at the same time also a curse, as the thin line between good art and bad are slowly fading. True art and artists are those who couldn't be perished despite the passage of time. Malayalam cinema has been blessed to have some exceptional artists. We are talking about artists, who are very meticulous about the projects and always deliver unique gems to the audience. Although there are many exceptional actors in Malayalam cinema, they quite often lose track in the rat race and end up giving pathetic outputs. Here’s a list of Malayalam actors who have exemplary talent and are always successful in what they do, but refuse to be in the rat race.

A two times National Award-winning actress, Shobana has always worked in films that impressed her the most. The extraordinarily talented actress has never been sluggish about choosing projects, ever since she took her acting career seriously. From her debut movie ‘April 18’ to her recent ‘Varane Avashyamund’, Shobana handpicked the films she has acted in. Although the cinephiles are a bit gloomy, as they could get enough of her, they are certainly happy when they hear Shobana is signing a film!

Urvashi became an actor by chance, but we are happy it happened. Born to a household of artists, Urvashi was no stranger to art, but seldom did she know that she is going to become one of the all-time favourite actors in South cinema! Urvashi has often shared that she wasn’t very planned or conscious about the choices she made in cinema, but the best part is all of them turned out to be excellent. The actress swears that she has no particular way of preparing for a character and all she does is listen to the director’s words, but she manages to pull off the character very well. Urvashi perhaps is a born actor and from ‘Mundhanai Mudichu’ to the latest ‘Mookuthi Amman’, Urvashi has showcased impressive acting chops.

Becoming an actor was never in the wildest dreams of Meera Jasmine. Born to a conservative household, Meera Jasmine had aspired to become a doctor. But it was AK Lohitadas, who changed her destiny. If Meera Jasmine, wouldn’t have gone to see the shooting happening near her hometown, Lohitadas wouldn’t have spotted the starry-eyed girl in the crowd. And if so, Malayalam cinema would have lost an impeccable actress! Meera Jasmine has never been in a rat race, she has always been part of films that connected with her and it always resulted in brilliant movies. And that is perhaps the biggest reason why cinephiles are eagerly waiting for her comeback!

Suresh Gopi is an outstanding performer. The actor could shapeshift into any character a filmmaker wants to, but it is very important that the actor is given the right shoes. The actor could pull off a mass action entertainer as well as an out and out entertainer. He can be the king and the commissioner and also the delicate Nakulan, but the filmmaker should surely know how to make use of his acting chops.

From his debut ‘Koodevide’ to the recent ‘Virus’, Rahman has proved the actor in his infinite time. The actor’s physical appearance and facial expressions are adjustable to any character one can dream of. Although Rahman started off his acting career at a very young age he was never interested in the rat race. The charming star always picked roles that challenged the actor in him and we are happy for his choices! But we do wish to see him more often on the silver screen.
