Malayalam actress Sowmya accuses Tamil director of assault: “Groomed me as s** slave’’

The release of the Justice Hema Committee report has initiated a new #MeToo wave in the entertainment industries, and actress Soumya has made shocking allegations of rape and assault against a Tamil director.

In an interview with NDTV, Soumya revealed that the director groomed her as a s** slave’. The actress said that she would disclose the identity of the accused to the special police team formed by the Kerala government to investigate the recent sexual assault allegations, in the wake of the report. Recounting the ordeal, the actress said that the incidents occurred when she was 18 years old. According to Soumya, the director and his wife approached her to act in a Tamil movie, and accused them of ‘bribing’ her with the glamorous lifestyle.

Soumya said that she ‘was a child’ then and ‘didn't know much’ of their intentions. She revealed that one day when the director’s wife wasn’t around, he addressed her as his daughter and kissed her. She said that she was completely frozen by the director’s action, but was ‘ashamed’ to speak even to her friends ad thought that she was ‘obligated’ to this man.


Soumya said that the director ‘completely used’ her body to his advantage. She accused him of rape, which according to her went on for a year, while she was in college. She further stated that the director ‘messed up’ with her mind by calling her his ‘daughter’ and assaulting her. She also accused him of grooming her as a s** slave’.
