Malayalam movies to watch on 2021 Children’s Day

November 14 is observed as Children’s Day in India, annually, as a tribute to India's First Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, on his birthday. He regarded children as the future of the nation and citizens of tomorrow and invested more in their development. Children’s Day is celebrated to increase the awareness of the rights, care, and education of children. As art mirrors society, children have also been the center of attention in Malayalam cinemas. From fantasy dramas to comedy entertainers, here’s a list of Children’s movies from Malayalam you must watch.

Helmed by Jijo Punnoose, ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’ is an iconic Malayalam movie, that doesn’t fail to engage the audience even after three and a half decades since its release. The film tells the story of three kids, who sets Kuttichathan, a little ghost, free from an evil sorcerer and befriends him. From the kids walking through the roof of the house to Kuttichathan being invisible, the film has not only fascinated the viewers but also secured a place in history, for being the first 3D movie made in Malayalam cinema.

Directed by Dennis Joseph, ‘Manu Uncle’ tells the story of an astronomy emthusiast Manu and a group of kids and their adventures. From the kids visiting the museum on the same day of a crown robbery to finally helping Manu’s father (MG Soman), a cop to catch the thieves, the film is an amusing watch. Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Suresh Gopi came together for the film and it is memorable for all the right reasons.

The movie tells the story of three children - siblings, and how the separation of their parents are affecting them. The film tells the story from the children’s perspective and is worth watching.
