Malayalam production controller and actor Kannan Pattambi passes away; brother Major Ravi shares funeral details - Reports

Malayalam actor and production controller Kannan Pattambi passed away late on Sunday night, January 4th. The news about his demise was confirmed by his elder brother, actor-director Major Ravi that he breathed his last around 11.40 pm.

Emotional Facebook post by Major Ravi

Major Ravi informed through a heartbreaking Facebook post. He wrote about losing his younger brother, who was an important part of the Malayalam cinema for many years. He also informed that the funeral will be held at 4pm on Monday at their home premises in Nhangattiri, Pattambi.




Sharing a picture of his brother, his post loosely translated in English read, “My beloved brother, Kannan Pattambi, who worked as a film production controller, passed away last night at 11:41 pm. His funeral will be held today at 4 pm at our home premises in Nhangattiri, Pattambi. My younger brother, Kannan Pattambi, has left for his heavenly abode. Om Shanti.”

Nearly three decades in Malayalam cinema

Kannan Pattambi has worked in the Malayalam film industry for nearly three decades. He has worked behind the scenes as a production controller with filmmakers depending on him for smooth and disciplined work on sets. Additionally, he has also made his presence as an actor.

As an actor, Kannan Pattambi acted in around 23 Malayalam films. He was often seen in supporting roles. Even though he was not a lead actor, his performances were natural and honest. He worked in several big films that featured top stars, including Mohanlal.

Some of the well known films include ‘Punaradhivasam’, ‘Crazy Gopalan’, ‘Kandahar’, ‘Thanthra’, ‘Mission 90 Days’ and more. He worked with many well-known directors such as Major Ravi, Shaji Kailas, V K Prakash, Santosh Sivan, K J Bose, and Anil Medayil.
