Mallika Sukumaran, the mother of the leading actor-director of the Malayalam film industry, has made a shocking allegation that a planned cyber attack is underway targeting
Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Cyber attacks intensified after 'Vilayath Buddha' release
In an interview with Manorama Online, Mallika Sukumaran said, “There is a vicious online attack against Prithviraj. The aim is to completely remove him from the film industry.” She said that no film organization has come forward to support his son in such a situation. She also said that this attack is only being directed at Prithviraj.
Mallika urges AMMA and film bodies to intervene
Mallika Sukumaran says that after the release of Vilayat Buddha on November 21, there was a coordinated cyber attack targeting the film and Prithviraj. “It has become the intention of some people to systematically attack Prithviraj. The furious insults on social media, the constant posting of venomous posts centered around him, all part of a planned attack. "If you ask the organizations, you won't get any answers. What some people want is to 'exclude him from the opposition'," she alleged. She said that some people's reluctance to see the progress of actor Thilakar's son, Shami Thilakar, could also be behind this attack.
Mallika stressed that trade unions like AMMA should take a strong stand against such cybercrimes. She said that he has already collected the IDs of some of those involved in the attacks and is ready to take action based on that. “It is time for the entire film industry to raise a united voice to protect my son,” she appealed.
Prithviraj remains in spotlight with major projects
Prithviraj has been a topic of discussion recently, starting from the controversies surrounding the film 'Empuraan L2' to 'Vilayath Buddha'. Although scenes involving the Jerak riots had to be changed, Emburaan became the second biggest hit in Malayalam cinema in terms of gross receipts. He played the role of a sandalwood smuggler named Double Mohanan in 'Vilayath Buddha' and has also acted in several language films including 'Sarzameen'. He has many films lined up like 'I Nobody, Khalifa', 'Santhosh Trophy', 'Daayra', 'Varanasi'. Mallika insists that serious efforts are needed to counter the cyber attacks targeting her, who continues to aim high.
