We had earlier told you that
Mammootty would be soon working on an epic period film titled
Maamaankam
, which is directed by debutant
Sajeev Pillai. Now, the megastar himself has made the official announcement through his social media account.
“Happy to be part of 'Maamaankam' which chronicles the journey of the legendary "Chaaverukal" of Valluvanadu. The biggest film I have done so far and it has an outstanding screenplay by debutante director Sajeev Pillai, who has written it after 12 years of research. The film is set in the late 17th century,” Mammootty wrote.
The actor also thanked the production house Navodaya “for their large-heartedness” in allowing the team to use the title 'Maamaankam'.
The movie, produced by NRI businessman
Venu Kunnampilly, will reportedly have a big star cast along with internationally renowned technicians.
