Mammootty pays tribute to MT Vasudevan Nair as the legend receives posthumous Padma Vibhushan

Mammootty, the celebrated Malayalam actor, recently paid tribute to the late MT Vasudevan Nair, a legendary filmmaker and novelist, who passed away on December 26, 2024. Following the announcement that Nair would posthumously receive the Padma Vibhushan, Mammootty shared an emotional post on social media, expressing his heartfelt condolences and admiration for the multi-talented icon.

In his tribute, Mammootty posted a candid photograph of himself with Nair and wrote, "Padma Vibhushan always in my memory Mr. M.T. Vasudevan Nair."

Mammootty had previously penned an eulogy after learning of Nair's passing, where he expressed his deep sense of loss. He described how he felt fortunate to have found a place in Nair's heart and credited him with instilling a part of his soul into the characters Mammootty portrayed on screen. He lamented that an era was fading away with Nair's departure, stating that it left him feeling empty.

The collaboration between Mammootty and MT Vasudevan Nair is one of the most celebrated partnerships in Malayalam cinema. They worked together on several iconic films, including 'Utharam', 'Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja', 'Adiyozhukkukal,' and 'Vilkkanundu Swapnangal'.

Each of these films showcased Mammootty's versatility and depth as an actor, earning him critical acclaim and numerous awards.

Several other actors from the South Indian film industry have been recognized with prestigious civilian awards this year, including Ajith Kumar, Shobana, and Nandamuri Balakrishna, who also received the Padma Bhushan.
