Mammootty visits late M.T. Vasudevan Nair’s family

Veteran actor Mammootty visited the late legendary scriptwriter and director M.T. Vasudevan Nair’s home in Kozhikode on Friday to pay his respects. The actor, who shared a deep personal and professional bond with the iconic storyteller, spent about ten minutes consoling M.T.'s wife, Kalamandalam Saraswathi, and their daughter, Aswathy. Actor Ramesh Pisharody also accompanied Mammootty during this somber visit.

Mammootty’s relationship with M.T. Vasudevan Nair extended beyond the silver screen. The two collaborated on several critically acclaimed films, and their bond grew into a lifelong friendship. Despite his close connection, Mammootty was unable to attend M.T.’s last rites as he was in Azerbaijan for a film shoot, and delays caused by a tragic plane crash in the region further postponed his return.

Reflecting on their relationship, Mammootty had earlier shared an emotional tribute on social media. Posting a memorable picture with M.T., he wrote: "Some people say that MT discovered Mammootty. I was the one who wanted to see him, prayed for him, and found him. That relationship grew from the day I met him. It multiplied like a friend, like a brother."

The actor also recalled a touching moment from a recent event: "Four or five months ago, during a program in Ernakulam, I stumbled and leaned on his chest, unable to hold him. I felt like I was that man's son."

Meanwhile, Mammootty and MT Vasudevan Nair’s previous collaboration was for the anthology film ‘Manorathangal’. Mammootty appeared in the segment ‘Kadugannava Oru Yathra’ which was directed by Ranjith. During the trailer launch of the anthology movie, MT and Mammootty shared a warm hug and the picture had went viral for all the right reasons with the netizens calling it, “Two legends in one frame.”
