Malayalam cinema legend Mammootty has been at the center of health-related rumours over the past few days, with unverified reports on social media. The speculation sparked concern among fans and well-wishers across the country. However, Rajya Sabha MP and close friend John Brittas has now stepped in to set the record straight.




John Brittas offers clarity on Mammootty’s condition - He is suffering from a minor health complication


Talking to Reporter TV, John Brittas confirmed that Mammootty is dealing with a minor health issue, but there is no cause for alarm. “Mammootty is suffering from a minor health complication and is currently receiving treatment. He is okay, and I just had a phone conversation with him,” Brittas reassured.


Emphasizing the nature of their friendship, he added that although they have been close for years, they typically avoided discussions about personal matters. “In recent days, we have been sharing such details as well,” he shared, indicating that the actor is in touch and doing fine.


Team Mammootty dismisses cancer claims


Even before Brittas’s statement, Mammootty’s team had already addressed the cancer rumours, calling them “fake news.” According to the official clarification, the actor is simply on a personal break due to Ramzan fasting and not because of any serious medical issue. “He is on vacation because he is fasting for Ramzan. He is on a break from his shoot schedule as well because of that,” the team said.




Actor to resume work soon



Mammootty’s team further confirmed that the megastar will be returning to work shortly, specifically for the much-anticipated film directed by Mahesh Narayanan, which also stars Mohanlal.


On the professional front, Mammootty's previous outing was the game thriller movie 'Bazooka', which was directed by the debutant Deeno Dennis. Mammootty was also recently seen in Gautham Vasudev Menon's film 'Dominic and the Ladies' Purse'.
