Following its successful run in theaters, Mammootty’s latest release, ‘Kalamkaval’, has started streaming online. The film, directed by Jithin K Jose, received rave reviews from cinephiles and critics alike during its theatrical release. Helmed by Jithin K Jose, ‘Kalamkaval’ features Mammootty in the lead role. Actor Vinayakan plays a pivotal role in the film. The film also has actors Rajisha Vijayan, Malavika Menon, Gibin Gopinath, and Gayatri Arun in key roles.




Jithin K Jose and Jishnu Sreekumar have jointly crafted the story and screenplay of the film. A Special Branch officer, Jayakrishnan’s inquiry into a communal riot triggered by the sudden elopement of an unmarried girl in the quiet village of Kottayikonam leads to an unexpected turn of events. What seemed to be a straightforward case becomes increasingly complex as new details emerge. As Tamil Nadu officer Stanly Das joins the team, the investigation widens.

The synopsis of the movie on the streamer reads, “A routine Kerala Police inquiry in the quiet village of Kottayikonam takes an unexpected turn when a trail of seemingly minor clues unravels into a string of disturbing cases. The investigation soon reveals some unsolved mysteries that have lingered many cases.”

‘Kalamkaval’ is currently streaming on Sony LIV. In a post shared on Instagram, the streamer announced the OTT release of the highly anticipated film. “Two men driven by opposite instincts. Stanley Das and Nath face each other tomorrow! #Kalamkaval Now Streaming On #SonyLIV,” the caption reads. The film started streaming on the platform on Friday, January 16.

TOI has ranked the film 3 out of 5, and noted that ‘Kalamkaval’ is a ‘slow-burn investigative thriller with compelling performances’.
