Mamta Mohandas, a survivor of Hodgkin's lymphoma has penned a powerful and inspiring note on World Cancer Day, February 4. February 4 is observed as World Cancer Day, annually, to advocate for policies that enhance cancer care accessibility, research, and support systems. Popular actor-singer Mamta Mohandas, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma (a type of cancer that develops in the lymph system) in 2009, fought the disease after years of medication and returned healthy and sound. On World Cancer Day, she spoke about how the fight is real for some and just a ‘stunt’ for others.

In a note shared on Facebook, Mamta Mohandas wrote, “For some the fight is real… for others, our fight is a ‘stunt’. This is the world we live in.. look out for yourselves. Put YOU first. This thing can’t beat you. And You’ve got this! Keep shining! Honoring and remembering all those who are fighting and those who lost their lives fighting from the front! #cancer #worldcancerday #survivor.”

It seems like Mamta Mohandas might have hinted at the recent incident of Poonam Pandey’s fake death stunt, with her statement, "For others, our fight is a ‘stunt’."

Meanwhile, last year (2023) Mamta Mohandas also opened up being diagnosed with vitiligo, a chronic autoimmune disorder that causes the appearance of white patches on the skin, triggered by the lack of melanin.
