‘Manichithrathazhu’ re-release teaser leaves movie buffs nostalgic

The Malayalam classic ‘Manichithrathazhu’ directed by Fazil and starring Suresh Gopi, Shobana, and Mohanlal in the lead roles is set for a grand re-release in August. Originally released in 1993, ‘Manichithrathazhu’ is making its return to the silver screen after 30 years. As the re-release date locked in, the makers have begun teasing the audience with glimpses from the remastered version.

The teaser, showcasing some of the film's most memorable scenes, has received a cult status among movie lovers. The video streaming platform is filled with enthusiastic comments from movie buffs. One netizen described the film as an “All time classic,” while another wrote, “Most watched movies by an average Malayali… Can't wait to finally witness it on the big screen.” Another comment read, “Nagavalli is back.” The teaser is already trending online and fans are going gaga over the re-release.

Directed by Fazil, ‘Manichithrathazhu’ is scripted by Madhu Muttam. The cinematography of the film is done by Venu, and is edited by TR Shekhar. The music (songs) are composed by M. G. Radhakrishnan and the background score is by Johnson.

Starring Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi and Shobana, the film also features Nedumudi Venu, Innocent, Vinaya Prasad, K.P.A.C.Lalitha, Sridhar, K.B. Ganesh Kumar, Sudheesh, Thilakan, Kuthiravattam Pappu, Rudra, Kuttyedathi Vilasini in supporting roles. The film will re-release in 4K Dolby Atmos on August 17, 2024.
