Two years ago, it was announced that Rajesh Pillai’s 'Traffic' would be made into Hindi soon. The project, which has been long pending, is now finally taking off and the director confirms that Manoj Bajpayee and 'Kahaani'-fame Parambrata Chatterjee will be playing the two central characters in the film. “Talks are on with Prakash Raj and Prasenjit Chatterjee as well but they have not been confirmed,” he says.
“However, none of the Malayalam actors, who starred in the original, would be part of the Hindi version. The lead actresses too have not been confirmed.
Rajesh says that as of now, the Bollywood production company that’s making the film wants him to helm the project. “But I might have a clash of dates with my next Mollywood film,
Motorcycle Diaries. It was planned much earlier that that I would start work on the Malayalam film early in June. But according to the B’wood production company’s plan, the
Traffic remake should start rolling by the first of July. I want to finish at least two schedules of
Motorcycle Diaries before I start anything else,” he states.
Suresh Nair, who scripted films such as
Kahaani and
Singh is King, will script the
Traffic remake. The film’s dialogues will be penned by Piyush Mishra with the help of the original writers, Bobby and Sanjay.
