'Marco' box office collections day 1: Unni Mukundan’s action thriller opens to Rs 4.21 crore!

We may have all seen the violent action Korean movies ‘I Saw the Devil’, ‘Old Boy’, and several others. It’s time for the Mollywood film industry to introduce its first-ever violent action flick - ‘Marco’ and the Unni Mukundan starrer has opened to magnificent numbers at KBO.

According to the Sacnilk website, the Unni Mukundan starrer ‘Marco’ minted Rs 4.21 crores at the Kerala box office on day 1. Reportedly the movie has collected Rs 1 lakh from the Hindi markets. The All-India opening for the Haneef Adeni’s directorial is reportedly around Rs 5 crores.



Considering it’s an ‘A’ rated film, ‘Marco’ has reportedly broken the 8-year-long record set by Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Kammattipaadam’, another ‘A’ rated movie, as the highest day one opening at the KBO.


With the grand opening of ‘Marco’, Unni Mukundan has become the 6th Malayalam actor to open Rs 4 crores plus Kerala box office opening collections after Prithviraj Sukumaran, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Nivin Pauly, and Dulquer Salmaan.


‘Marco’ hit the big screens on the last day and the movie has surpassed expectations, receiving magnificent reviews from the audiences. Strictly restricted for young audiences under 18 years old, ‘Marco’ is said to be the most violent movie ever made in Mollywood or even India.


As promised by the makers, ‘Marco’ is filled with brutal action sequences, especially in the movie's second half. The initial reviews for ‘Marco’ on day 1 are highly positive. One netizen wrote, “#Marco Kerala FDFS over. Most brutal & violent film in Indian film history as per early reviews. Action blocks, BGM & stylish making are major positives according to reviews. Overall, it can be said that Unni Mukundan’s hard work has finally paid off with Marco's success. The movie is directed by Haneef Adeni and is a spin-off to the Nivin Pauly starrer ‘Mikhael’.
