Actress Shanthi Williams, wife of late cinematographer Williams, has leveled allegations against Malayalam superstar Mohanlal.Speaking in an interview, she said the 'Hridayapoorvam' actor, once close to their family, changed completely after stardom. Shanthi said, “Mohanlal made use of our situation. Even after my husband passed away, he didn’t come to see us. He is not the same person as before. The Lal I knew and the Lal after becoming a superstar are very different. This is not the old Lal. Back then, he had a childlike nature. He was very kind. When he came home, he would talk and laugh with everyone."

She recalled how Mohanlal would visit their home, eat meals with them, and share warm moments but later distanced himself when he rose to fame.

The Krishna idol controversy

Talking to the Master Bin YouTube channel, Shanti said that her deepest hurt comes from the loss of a sandalwood Krishna idol once treasured in their home. According to her, during a time of financial struggle, Mohanlal took the idol worth lakhs, offering in exchange a used air conditioner that stopped working within days. “Today, wherever I look around my house, I still see Krishna’s absence,” she said.

A family left in pain

Beyond the idol, Shanthi expressed anger that Mohanlal did not visit or even call when her husband passed away.
The actress said, "I didn’t act for many years. During that time, I faced so many struggles, but not one person even turned to look at me. Lal knows I have four children. I was running from place to place, dubbing and acting, just to raise them. Back then, there were days when my children didn’t even have proper food. Many nights, they slept pressing a wet cloth to their stomachs."She said Tamil directors like Shankar and Thirumurugan offered support, while in Kerala, she was left feeling abandoned. She even said that she feels ashamed to call herself a Malayali.“A single call of concern would have been enough,” the 'Papanasam' actress concluded.
