Finally, Mohanlal has confirmed his collaboration with the talented director Jithu Madhavan who is best known for the superhit films ‘Romancham’ and ‘Aavesham’.
During a recent talk with Baradwaj Rangan, Mohanlal confirmed that he has committed to a project with the ‘Aavesham’ director Jithu Madhavan.
Reacting to whether Mohanlal listens to the stories told by the newbie directors, the ‘Barroz’ actor said that he has heard the stories of several new directors and said that he is currently working on ‘Thudarum’ which is directed by Tharun Moorthy who is best known for the films ‘Saudi Vellakka’, and ‘Operation Java’.
“I am going to do a film with the director of ‘Aavesham’, and I am hearing so many stories,” said Mohanlal during the interview.
Mohanlal also mentioned his previous collaborations with the ‘Aadujeevutham’ director Blessy. He mentioned that he and Blessy have done several superhit films such as ‘Thanmathra’, ‘Pranayam’ and ‘Bhramaram’. “Blessy is an amazing director and even his first film was with me. Just like that lot of good directors are there with whom I have collaborated on their first projects,” Mohanlal said.
Pointing out the issue with the new directors, Mohanlal said that the stories that the majority of them tell him have a ‘Mohanlal’ element to them, which doesn’t excite him. Mohanlal said that these new directors have to ‘Wipe’ that element out of their story.
Mentioning the underwhelming reception for his first collaboration with Lijo Jose Pellissery in ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’, Mohanlal said that even though the movie was good, it didn’t gain good reception from the audiences that they expected.
Mohanlal concluded by saying, “Doing a film with a new director is now a challenge for me. If the output turns out bad, my audiences, friends, and fans will become sad, more than I. So I have to be very careful in choosing a film. Also, the entire burden will come on my shoulder”
