‘Hridayapoorvam’: Director Sathyan Anthikad reflects on long association; recalls magical ease of Lalettan’s acting: ‘Mohanlal is a wonder’
Veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad expressed his deep admiration for Mohanlal, calling him “a wonder” and one of the most effortless performers in Indian cinema.
Speaking to an online portal ahead of the release of his upcoming film 'Hridayapoorvam', the director reflected on his long-standing association with the actor and the privilege of working with him through the decades.
Sathyan Anthikad says Mohanlal makes acting look easy
Sharing his thoughts on what makes Mohanlal special, Sathyan Anthikad told Mathrubhumi, "Watching Mohanlal perform makes acting look like the simplest job in the world—he does it with such ease. One of the greatest blessings of my career has been the chance to direct him.”
He added that Lalettan’s ability to switch into character in an instant continues to amaze him. He might be joking around and having fun right before the shot, but the moment the director calls ‘action,’ he slips seamlessly into character. That’s the magic you witness on screen.” For Sathyan Anthikad, that seamless transformation is what makes Mohanlal truly unique.
'Hridayapoorvam' trailer receives praise
The trailer of 'Hridayapoorvam', which was released earlier this week, offers a glimpse of a slice-of-life drama filled with warmth, humour, and family bonds. Mohanlal leads the story, joined by Malavika Mohanan, Sangeeth Prathap, and Sangeetha. The film is set as a heartfelt Onam release, and also marks the reunion of Mohanlal with Sathyan Anthikad after a decade. Fans are also buzzing about reports of cameo appearances by Basil Joseph and Meera Jasmine.
Fahadh Faasil and the shift from 'Uncle' to 'Eetta'
Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Kaumudy, Sathyan Anthikad spoke about his evolving bond with Fahadh Faasil. “Earlier, Fahadh used to call me Sathyan Uncle, but once he started shooting, he began addressing me as Sathyeetta. In that way, the boundary between us disappears. That brings a big change. The problem arises only when they feel we are seniors and the ones who were with their fathers,” he said. Sathyan Anthikad has collaborated with Fahadh Faasil in the films 'Njan Prakashan', and 'Oru Indian Pranayakadha'.
