Mohanlal releases the short film ‘Oppam’

At a time in which the Covid – 19 pandemic is scaring us with spread even through contact, especially in districts like Thiruvananthapuram that’s under triple lockdown, director Sreevarun recently made a short film titled ‘

Oppam

,’ based on a theme that’s quite relevant today.


The short film was released through the page of actor Mohanlal, on Friday. He captioned the video thus: Happy to launch Malayalam short film 'Oppam'. Best wishes Nandhu and team.

‘Oppam,’ which starts off showing the angst of a girl on her wedding day, and her journey to a hospital to see her father before the function, goes on to show the predicament of many healthcare workers who sacrifice many things personal to serve those on Covid – 19 treatment in corona isolation wards. It also has a voice-over towards the end, by Mohanlal himself. He explains how we owe the safety and security we enjoy to those like the protagonist in the film. “This is a war. A psychological war, for which we should all come together to defeat a pandemic like Covid – 19. Each of the services for this cause is invaluable. Let’s stand with them, fight strong and defeat it. Let’s prepare for a better tomorrow. Lokah Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu,” Mohanlal says.

The cast of the short film has Nandalal Krishnamoorty aka Nandu, Renu Soundar, Harisree Martin and Aju Thomas. It has cinematography by Pramod K Pillai and screenplay by the director himself. Its concept is by Sajeev Soman and music is by Arun Vijay. Kapil Krishna is the editor of ‘Oppam,’ which has Pattanam Sha on makeup.
