Mohanlal says Allu Arjun starrer 'Pushpa 2' success is a 'gatecrash': 'Somebody should do it'

Allu Arjun's starrer ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ is ruling the box office, becoming the fastest Indian film to earn Rs 1,000 crore within six days of its release. Now, Mollywood star Mohanlal has showered praises on the movie and compared its success to one of his own films' pan-Indian acceptance.

Mohanlal was asked about the blockbuster success of Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2’ at the trailer launch of his next movie, ‘Barroz’, and he replied that not just 'Pushpa', but the whole film industry deserves to achieve such massive acceptance to survive. "Not just 'Pushpa 2', a lot of big films are coming. Even my film, I wish it should run," he shared.

He expressed that he prays for the success of films and emphasised the importance of every film's success for the industry's growth. The actor believes that the industry’s progress relies on continuous releases and their positive reception. Mohanlal also highlighted the need for people to show respect towards films.

The ‘Lucifer’ actor went on to describe the success of ‘Pushpa 2’ as unexpected, likening it to the impact of his own pan-Indian film ‘Kalapani’, which also won a National Award. The actor wrapped up his thoughts by stressing the importance of filmmakers and technicians utilising all available resources to craft such monumental cinematic achievements.

"Because it’s like a gatecrash. Somebody comes in. I did a film long back—'Kalapani'. It was a pan-Indian film long back. Santosh [Sivan] shot that film. He got a National Award. So, somebody should do it," he added.

Besides Allu Arjun, Sukumar’s directorial venture ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ also featured Fahadh Faasil and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. Expectations are high for ‘Pushpa 3: The Rampage’.
