The Malayalam film industry saw a diverse range of releases in March, but it was Mohanlal's ‘Empuraan’ that emerged as the clear winner at the box office.
‘Empuraan’ is the only winnerAccording to Asianet News, the Producers Association of Malayalam Cinema has released the official box office figures for films released in March, and 'Empuraan' stood out as the only major success among the 15 films that made it to theaters during the month.

This makes Empuraan the highest-grossing film of March, marking a strong start for its theatrical run.
On the other hand, several films released in March, such as ‘Maruvasham’, ‘Pralayasheshom Oru Jalakanyakka’, ‘Aaranyam’, ‘Kaadakam’, ‘Leech’, and ‘Waiting List’, failed to make an impact at the box office, with very low collections. The Producers Association's report only covers the theater share in Kerala and excludes earnings from other markets or platforms like OTT and satellite rights.
Dull business of other movies ‘Pralayasheshom Oru Jalakanyakka’ earned just 64,000 in theater share, while ‘Aaranyam’ and ‘Kaadakam’ had even lower numbers. ‘Maruvasham’ had a budget of Rs 78,00,000 and had a theatre share of only Rs 60,000, ‘Ouseppinte Osiyath’ had a budget of Rs 4,04,46,985 and the theatre share was Rs 45,00,000. ‘Vadakkan’ had a budget of Rs 3,65,60,000, and the theatre share was Rs 20,00,000
The report also highlighted that five films from the March releases are still running in theaters, including ‘Empuraan’, ‘Abhilasham’, ‘Vadakkan’, ‘Parivar’, ‘Ouseppinte Osiyath’. ‘Abhilasham’ has been performing well, with a share of 15 lakh in just three days of its release.
