Mollywood mourns the loss veteran cinematographer MJ Radhakrishnan

known for his acclaimed films like Deshadanam and Adayalangal breathed his last at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday evening. The award-winning cameraman, who was 61 years old, passed away following a cardiac arrest.

He started as wedding still photographer and went on to become an eminent cinematographer after joining as an associate of cameraman-turned-director Shaji N Karun. In his career spanning more than two decades, he worked in over 75 feature films and several documentaries. Known for his skill on natural lighting, ‘

MJR

’ had cranked the camera for prominent Indian filmmakers including Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Murali Nair, TV Chandran, Dr Biju and Jayaraj. The seven-time winner of Kerala State Award for Best Cinematography has also three international awards.

The MJ holds a special place in the heart of Mollywood as prominent technicians and actors in the industry have still not recovered from his loss. Mourning his death, the Malayalam film fraternity took to social media to express their grief:


Sharing his grief, actor Govind Padmasoorya who had acted in the film Adayalangal which had scored numerous Kerala State Film Awards in 2008, took to his social media network to share his thoughts about MJ Radhakrishnan:
