The director’s debut venture narrated the real-life story of a Muslim boy, BP Moideen and a Hindu girl, Kanchamala. The film won seven awards at Filmfare Awards South 2016 including the Best Director Award. With the success of the film, Prithviraj Sukumaran found a top spot at the box office after back-to-back flops. Vimal’s second directorial venture is an epic historical film based on the Mahabharata titled ‘Karnan’ with Prithviraj in the lead.
