MT Vasudevan Nair in critical condition following hospitalisation

Mollywood’s veteran writer, author, and lyricist MT Vasudevan Nair is under critical condition, as per the report published by the hospital authorities.

According to On Manorama, the 91-year-old author is kept under observation in ICU, by a team of expert doctors. Reportedly, MT Vasudevan Nair was admitted to the hospital, following serious breathing difficulties and heart-related issues.



Reportedly, another medical bulletin is expected to be unveiled shortly by the hospital authorities. Reports say that even though MT Vasudevan Nair is conscious, he is unable to speak or move.


Madath Thekkepaattu Vasudevan Nair, popularly known as MT, has made several memorable contributions to the Malayalam film industry. His first scripting venture was the 1965 film ‘Murappennu’ which received critical acclaim for its intense storyline and the movie was the first part of MT’s trilogy of political melodramas and the other two were ‘Iruttinte Athmavu’, and ‘Asuravithu’.


One can never forget the memorable dialogues penned down by the legend for the movies ‘Vilkkanundu Swapnangal’, ‘Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha’, ‘Vaishali’, ‘Perumthachan’, and many more. He was literally a master at crafting screenplays and just by reading his scripts, one can imagine the visuals playing inside their minds.


MT Vasudevan Nair’s previous outing was ‘Manorathangal’, an anthology movie which was based on the stories penned by him.


The series, which was narrated by Kamal Haasan, starred Mohanlal, Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, Asif Ali, Indrajith Sukumaran, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Durga Krishna, and many more. Each story was directed by the filmmakers Priyadarshan, Ranjith, Shyamaprasad, Aswathy V Nair, Mahesh Narayanan, Jayaraj, Santosh Sivan, and Rathish Ambat. The series received good reviews from the audiences, especially for ‘Olavum Theeravum’ starring Mohanlal and Durga Krishna in the lead and directed by Priyadarshan.
