Murali Gopy and Anoop Menon to play the lead
After Arun Kumar Aravind’s Ee Adutha Kalathu, Murali Gopy and Anoop Menon are teaming up once again in ad filmmaker Sunil Lenus D’s debut film, titled Kosarakkolli. The film will feature a few real-life incidents, and portray real life characters, who will be portrayed by the duo.
“This is a suspense thriller set in the 80’s and will tell the story of a Knanaya Christian family,” says Sunil, adding, “Unlike the usual suspense thrillers, Kosarakkolli will have no investigation or law involved.”
Murali will essay a villager in the film.

“I play the title character, the Kosarakkolli. Like the title suggest, he is considered as an evil outsider. The story also deals with the urban scenario of the age, including the cruelties of man,” says the Left Right Left actor. However, Murali says that details of Anoop’s character cannot be divulged now, as his character is one of the prime suspense elements in the story. “All I can say is that he plays the role of a planter in the film.”
Among the real life incidents portrayed in the film, the tragic bus accident in Kuttikkanam in 1987 is one of the highlights. “The scene will be shot in the same location where the incident took place. A few of my friends who witnessed the incident have helped me by providing valuable information,” says Sunil, who has written the screenplay and dialogue as well.
The lead female character will be played by a newcomer. “Since she is also part of the suspense element, we do not plan to reveal her identity yet,” adds Sunil. The movie will also star Mithun of Buddy fame, Sreejith Ravi and Sanju. Interestingly, Josekutty Valiyakallumkal, who played the famous George Thekkinmootil in the Malayalam sitcom Akkara Kazchakal, will essay the same character in Kosarakkolli as well.
Benny Johnson has composed three songs for the movie, including an acapella, the first of its kind in Mollywood. Rev Father Sebastian Kidanguthazhe and Vinu C Sekhar have penned the lyrics. The film is expected to go on floors by November end, in Kochi, Kottayam and Vagamon.
