‘Narayaneente Moonnanmakkal’ box office collections day 1: Joju George starrer collects Rs 62 lakhs only
The Malayalam family drama 'Narayaneente Moonnanmakkal', starring Joju George, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Alencier Ley Lopez, had a slow start at the box office, collecting Rs 62 lakh on its opening day. The film, directed by debutant Sharan Venugopal, explores the strained relationships of three brothers who reunite at their ancestral home to bid farewell to their ailing mother, only to confront their past conflicts.
According to reports from Sacnilk, the worldwide collection for the film stands at Rs 0.68 crore, with an India net of Rs 0.62 crore. The Kerala box office (KBO) contributed Rs 26 lakh on the first day, followed by Rs 22 lakh on the second day and Rs 14 lakh on the third day, indicating a declining trend.
Despite strong performances from the lead cast, the slow-paced narrative appears to have limited its appeal. The film’s theatrical run now depends on word-of-mouth reception and weekday occupancy trends.
The Joju George starrer received decent reviews from the audiences. One Twitter user wrote, “#NarayaneenteMoonnaanmakkal - With no dramatic highs, major conflicts or cinematic climax, realistic flow makes it deeply relatable. Though short runtime, its immersive storytelling feels long & slow-paced yet leaves you wanting more. A true gem & a must-watch family drama.” Another Twitter review reads, “"Narayaneente Moonnaanmakkal" is a deeply moving family drama with real characters, subtle storytelling, and strong performances. #MalayalamCinema #MovieReview.” A third one wrote, “A compelling family drama that will tug at your heartstrings! Three estranged brothers, reunited after decades at their ancestral home, try to put aside their differences to give their dying mother a peaceful send-off. But old wounds resurface as the house brings back painful memories of their tumultuous past. Directed & written by Sharan Venugopal, starring Joju George, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Alencier Ley Lopez. Don't miss this powerful story of family, forgiveness, and healing!.”
