Nayanthara to join Mammootty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan film marking their on-screen reunion after a decade- Reports
Excitement levels are high as some latest reports suggest that the south superstar Nayanthara may join Mammootty’s upcoming film with legendary director Adoor Gopalakrishnan. If this happens, it will mark a reunion of Nayanthara and Mammootty who had earlier shared screen space in the films 'Rappakkal', 'Thaskaraveeran', 'Bhaskar the Rascal', and 'Puthiya Niyamam'.
Mammootty and Nayanthara are also already part of Mahesh Narayanan’s upcoming multi starrer 'Patriot' which also features Mohanlal in the lead.
The Adoor and Mammootty headlined project will be produced by the 'Kalamkaval' actor himself. Reports say that the film is expected to go on floors by the end of January. A confirmation from the team regarding the inclusion of Nayanthara in the movie, is yet to be made.
Reportedly Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Mammootty were planning to work on an adaptation of Thakazhi’s famous novel 'Randidangazhi'. This novel was already made into a film in the 1950s. The team decided to move away from that idea and work on a fresh and contemporary story instead.
Adoor himself is penning the script for the film. Reports have also suggested that 'Bramayugam' fame Shehnad Jalal will crank the lens.
Adoor Gopalakrishnan confirmed in an earlier interview with Manorama News that pre-production has already started. The ace filmmaker spoke openly about why Mammootty was chosen. He said, “Mammootty is the perfect match for the character.” He also shared that while shaping the screenplay, he could only think of Mammootty. There was no second option in his mind. According to him, the process of casting other characters is still happening.
Adoor Gopalakrishnan was in the news recently for comments he made at a government-organized felicitation event called ‘Vaanolam Malayalam Lal Salaam’. The event was held to honour Mohanlal after he received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
Adoor said, “When I received this award two decades ago, there wasn’t such a grand celebration. Now, our government and Chief Minister have taken a special interest in honouring Mohanlal. I share in your happiness and pride over this.”
Mohanlal replied, “The first time he said something good about me… or no, he has spoken about me many times before — thank you, Adoor sir.”
