As Mammootty starrer ‘Best Actor’ clocks a decade today, netizens are celebrating it. The film was released on the same day (December 9), 10 years ago. Directed by
Martin Prakkat, the film told the story of Mohan (Mammootty), a teacher, who is an aspiring actor. Mohan has a family and a six-year-old son. Being inspired by a Bollywood actor, who goes to the slums to learn the life of the gangsters, Mohan too is on a journey to understand the life of the ‘underworld’ and gangsters.
Although ‘Best Actor’ is not a cinema-within-cinema, it explores the areas of how showbiz is in the eyes of a common man.
‘Best Actor’ is a great entertainer, featuring the aspiring actor’s efforts to become an actor, his family and bonds, and the troubles he lands himself in.
Mammootty played Mohan, the wannabe actor, and surely pulled off the character very well. Apart from the Megastar, the film also featured Nedumudi Venu, Lal, Salim Kumar, Vinayakan, Master Vivas, Sreenivasan, K. P. A. C. Lalitha, Master Sreedharan Nampoothiri, Sukumari, and Sruthi Ramakrishnan in major roles.
