His recent roles in

Moothon

and

Thuramukham

are gritty and raw in nature. Ask the actor if it was a deliberate move to break away from his boy-next-door mould and he says, “I don’t want to get boxed in. Tomorrow I want to be able to play a romantic hero and in the next film I might want to do a role like Moothon again. I want to keep doing different roles and that’s what helps extend your longevity as an actor. I still feel nervous before any role I do and I take my time to sync with the characters and the teams. In fact, when I look back at each of the characters I played in the last decade, I wish I had done something different to make them better.”

Nivin currently has a schedule of Padavettu pending. He is also part of director Rajesh Ravi’s

Bismi Special

, a romantic tale also featuring Aishwarya Lekshmi, and a rustic action film titled

Gangs of Mundanmala

, which is helmed by Ronnie Manuel Joseph.
