'Param Sundari' actor Renji Panicker REACTS to Kerala actress sexual assault case verdict:' I believe that the culprits have been punished'

Screenwriter and actor Renji Panicker has reacted strongly to the recent verdict in the Kerala actress assault case, saying that his belief remains that the real culprits have been punished.

As reported by Asianet News, Renji Panicker pointed out that the court has clearly stated that Dileep is not guilty, and therefore, reactions of disappointment or criticism from a particular section of society are not unexpected.



“I have not read the court order. I believe that the culprits have been punished. The court has said that Dileep is not guilty. When a verdict goes against one side, their criticism is natural,” Renji Panicker said.

Renji Panicker criticize media

Responding to Dileep’s claim that he was framed in the case, Renji said there is nothing wrong if the actor feels that he suffered punishment without guilt.


“Didn’t you hear Dileep saying there is a conspiracy? If Dileep feels that he was punished without being guilty, what is wrong with that? Haven’t there been cases in this country where police created false evidence? Who would believe that the media has no agenda? Media has an agenda. They will do anything to prove what they build up.”


Renji Panicker added that the prosecution failed to prove conspiracy, and therefore those who actually participated in the attack were the ones punished.

Clarifies stand on court, Government and industry

The 'Param Sundari' actor stressed that the truth is what the court finds and that associations are free to take back anyone who has not been proven guilty.


“The truth is what the court finds. The government has the right to appeal against the verdict.”


The verdict delivered by Judge Honey M. Varghese of the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court acquitted Dileep, the eighth accused, while convicting six accused, including Pulsar Suni who is the first accused on charges of gang rape, abduction and criminal conspiracy. Although the prosecution argued that Dileep masterminded the assault due to personal enmity with the survivor, the criminal conspiracy charge could not be proven, leading to his acquittal.
