Actress Parvathy Thiruvothu recently engaged in an insightful conversation with acclaimed author Arundhati Roy at the Wayanad Literature Festival. The actress took to her social media platforms to share glimpses of the significant moments. During their discussion, Roy posed a thought-provoking question about the involvement of young male actors in addressing industry issues, including the findings of the Hema Committee report, which exposed incidents of harassment against women.

Parvathy did not hold back in her response, expressing dismay over the apathy displayed by the younger generation of male actors. She revealed that the younger generation in the industry is somewhat worse, as the older generation was more focused on misogyny and patriarchy. However, what troubles her most about the younger ones is their laziness. She believes their conscience needs to be pricked and skinned so that they can perceive things more clearly.

"They can clearly see what is happening around them. Some young actors in the industry are frustrated because they are not receiving the same benefits the older generation enjoyed,” she remarked. The actress added that while both generations exhibit patriarchal tendencies, the indifference of the younger generation stands out as a pressing concern.

She further criticised the continued glorification of “alpha-male” characters and patriarchal ideals in many big-budget films in the Malayalam industry, arguing that such portrayals reinforce outdated societal norms. Reflecting on her evolving perspective, Parvathy shared that, while she once worried about collaborating with such actors, it no longer influences her decisions.

On the work front, Parvathy was last seen in 'Her', a Malayalam anthology film released on November 29, 2024, directly on an OTT platform. The movie features an ensemble cast, including Urvashi, Aishwarya Rajesh, Remya Nambeesan, and Lijomol Jose.
