Malayalam spy action thriller ‘Patriot’ brought back Mohanlal and
Mammootty together after many years. The film, released on May 1, received mostly positive reviews; however, it also got mixed reviews after some people disliked certain parts. Recently, Mammootty addressed the mixed response at an event in Dubai.
Mammootty reacts to mixed reviews
As per a report by Mid-day, he said, “We are living in an era where privacy is increasingly lost, and the film Patriot addresses this relevant subject.” He also spoke about different opinions. He said, “There will be different views—good, bad, partly good, mostly good. Everyone is free to express their opinion as they feel. Some of you may have heard such opinions before coming here.
Whatever it is, you will form your own view, and that is what matters. Films are made with the intention of being enjoyed by all.”
‘Patriot’ box office performance
Although the film is getting some mixed reviews, the box office numbers are strong. The film earned Rs 9.8 crore on day one. On Saturday, it added Rs 6.15 crore. The total for two days is Rs 16.15 crore, according to Sacnilk. Overseas, the film collected Rs 13.00 crore on day 2, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 29.50 crore so far.

About ‘Patriot’
Speaking about the film, ‘Patriot’ tells the story of a retired officer played by Mammootty. He is blamed for something he did not do. He then goes on a mission to prove his innocence and protect the country. Mohanlal joins him in this mission.
Before release, Mammootty said the film was mainly made for Malayali audiences. He also said it is not a pan-India film.The movie also features other actors like Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Rajeev Menon, and Revathy.
