‘Playing a character from Vaikom Muhammad Basheer’s story really excited me’, says ‘Neelavelicham’ actress Pooja Mohanraj- Exclusive

The Mollywood film industry is literally a place of immense talent and every year the audiences witness the arrival of newbie actors who prove their acting potential even in small roles. Actress Pooja Mohanraj is definitely an addition to the list of talented newbie actors and she has already proved her acting prowess in the films ‘Romancham’, 'Purusha Pretham’ and ‘Freedom Fight’.

Pooja also teamed up with the talented Mollywood director Aashiq Abu for the horror suspense film ‘Neelavelicham’ and in an exclusive chat with ETimes, the actress opened up about her working experience in the film and many more.

“When I got roped in for the role of Bhargavi’s friend character Latha, people were asking me two extreme things. One section among them was actually afraid of whether the remake of such a classic film ‘Bhargavi Nilayam’ would work well and another section said to me that this film is going to be a magnificent one. Playing a character from Vaikom Muhammad Basheer’s story really excited me.”, said an elated Pooja during the exclusive conversation.

When asked about the experience while working on the project 'Neelavelicham', Pooja replied, “It was a great experience for me, every department worked in a synchronized manner and took extreme care in each and every detail. Also, Aashiq Abu is one of the nicest people to work with. He always managed to keep his cool throughout the shoot and the whole crew felt like a family, even though it was small.”

Meanwhile, even with less than one minute of screen time, Pooja Mohanraj impressed the audiences with her comedic performance in the film ‘Romancham’ “I love to do comedy and I am in fact comfortable in it. As an artist one should be able to do all kinds of roles and comedy is something that comes to me naturally. While training one of the hardest things you have to go through is clowning.”, Pooja added.

Meanwhile, Pooja Mohanraj has several highly anticipated projects in the pipeline that include Mammootty - Jeo Baby’s ‘Kaathal - The Core’ and Two untitled Malayalam web series.
